Neymar Already Causing Problems at Al-Hilal, Clashes with Coach

Neymar move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia has not gone as smoothly as hoped, according to reports. The Brazilian, who had expressed a desire to return to his former European club this summer, was sold by Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €90 million ($96.2 million) to the Qatari-owned team.

While Neymar made his debut for Al-Hilal in a 6-1 win against Al-Riyadh, his performance in a 1-1 draw in the Asians Champions League against Navbahor reportedly left the team’s owners disappointed. El Nacional also suggests that Neymar’s form has been slower, clumsier and more predictable than usual.

The Brazilian has also allegedly clashed with his new manager Jorge Jesus over his participation in Brazil national team matches. While Neymar broke Pele’s all-time scoring record for the Selecao in a recent World Cup qualifier win against Bolivia, Jesus reportedly thought the trip across the Atlantic was unnecessary for his star player who had only just returned from a seven-month injury layoff.

Neymar’s participation in upcoming Conmebol matches against Venezuela and Uruguay in mid-October could also cause conflict with his club commitments. It remains to be seen how the Brazilian will balance both responsibilities while also staying on the right side of Jesus and Al-Hilal.

Overall, Neymar’s move to Al-Hilal has not been the seamless transition he may have hoped for. The Brazilian will need to find his form quickly and navigate his club and country commitments carefully to avoid further clashes with his manager and team.
