2022/23 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award Nominees: De Bruyne, Haaland, Messi

The nominees for the 2022/23 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award have been announced. The top three contenders are Kevin De Bruyne from Belgium and Manchester City, Erling Haaland from Norway and Manchester City, and Lionel Messi from Argentina, who recently moved from Paris to Inter Miami.

These players were selected based on their outstanding performances during the 2022/23 season at both club and national team levels. The shortlist was initially chosen by the UEFA technical study group, and the final three nominees were determined through a voting process. Coaches from clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League group stages, along with national team coaches and journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM), participated in the voting.

The winner of the award will be announced at the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony on August 31, 2023, in Monaco.

Other players who received votes but did not make the top three include İlkay Gündoğan, Rodri, Kylian Mbappé, Luka Modrić, Marcelo Brozović, Declan Rice, Alexis Mac Allister, and Jesús Navas.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the nominees for the UEFA Women’s Player and Coach of the Year awards, which will be revealed next week.
